Van Wey has practiced law in the field of personal injury litigation. Kay became personally interested in the prescription drug epidemic as a result of a high profile "pill mill" case she handled beginning in 2003. She realized that people are dying as a result of careless prescribing practices by some doctors whose primary motive is profit rather than patient care. She also came to realize that unless the victim was a high profile celebrity, the prescription overdose deaths went largely unnoticed and that many attorneys aren't interested in helping these victims and their families because of the stigma associated with drug addiction.
Kay handles cases throughout the nation involving doctors, pharmacists, pharmacies, and others who engage in the practice of diverting prescription drugs for illicit purposes. Her clients are the families of those who lost the battle with their addiction. Kay is currently pursuing wrongful death lawsuits against "pill mills" in several states on behalf of her clients.
